FMB is the Field Measurement Book sketch prepared by the Tamil Nadu Survey & Settlement department. For every survey number in a village — and each of its subdivisions — there is an FMB sheet showing the F-line (field boundary), the G-line (village boundary), the extent, and the chain/link measurements of the parcel.

You need the FMB whenever you buy, sell, mortgage, partition, or prove the boundary of land: banks ask for it, the taluk office verifies it, and courts read it. For a single survey number the sheet is enough; for land spread across several numbers, the sheets are joined into a Combined FMB Sketch at ₹50 or less per survey number.
